Vintage music boxes of all stripes were the passion of Jim Hamilton, the famed collector who at one time owned quite a collection of Quarterlodeons; coin operated mechanical music boxes from the early 20th century that operated on music rolls, much like the old player piano. For many years Hamilton tracked down all of these instruments he could find, buying them if they were repairable; and lovingly restoring them to their original condition. At the time of this recording in 1956, Jim had $50,000.00 tied up in the quaint instruments and their respective music rolls.
