Have you ever been the last one awake at the festival... tired... tipsy... still searching for something? Eventually you reach a fire pit and there's a woman serenading a small group of fellow searchers on an old archtop guitar. This is roots singer Gina Leslie whose music floats smoothly between classic country and jazz-inspired sounds, blending a melancholic jubilee that sinks it's teeth in your heart. No, You're Crying, her debut solo release, was recorded over the past two years of isolation and rings with a singular time and place of heartbreak and solitude. Growing up surrounded by music in Colorado, Leslie cut her teeth with American folk sounds and immersed herself in the devoted communities that chase them. Over more than a decade playing everything from bluegrass to folk to jazz, she's absorbed a huge swath of American music and made it her own. Leslie is also well known as a side musician who records and performs with bands in New Orleans and beyond, including The Sam Doores Band, Esther Rose, Ric Robertson, Dave Hammer and her family band, The Bad Bad Leslies. Above all, what strikes you about Leslie's original music is the way it makes you feel-a tender world between happy and sad. Indeed, this project arrives just in time to be the broken-hearted Valentine's Day release, a perfect gift for your Ex or a missed connection. See you at the fire pit.
