Here we take on rock with our latest ten-track release, Mellodrama, and we continue on our journey with musical influences from Britpop and rock, alternative, roots, and contemporary genres intertwined with rock-inspired medleys that owe some inspiration from Thomas Cole's painting of The Voyage Of Life for Samuel Ward. The ten tracks on the CD (we prefer album) are taken from 3 out of the future 4 CD's that make up 'The Voyage' set, which will appear over a number of years. This album, like Acoustica, was recorded, mixed, and produced at Waterville Sound and Recording Studios under the guiding hand of the skilled Kevin Connelly, and mastered at NorthEastern Digital by the renown Toby Mountain. Most of the tracks feature 12 string electric guitar, 12 string acoustic guitars, drums and percussion (inc kettle drums), orchestration, mellotron, synthesizers, slide guitar, and bass foot pedals. Key credits for musical capability and the numerous different types of instrumentation, keyboards, guitars, percussion and drum skills employed go to Kevin and Morgan. In the Beginning Pts 1 and 2 open the life-songs journey, and set the aural stage for what is to come. This is followed by the acoustic 'Sailor's Jig' reflecting our lighter side. Then into more serious material, where we present 3 parts of the 5 part mystical 'MoonLight Lady'. We then follow this with 'Brown Eyes', featuring a soaring synthesizer lead to exit. Then another lighter track 'Awaken (Coffee Break') before we go into our finale tracks, 'Step out and Live - Pt 2' and a medley from 3 tracks called 'Innies&Outies' which features intros and exits from 'Wonder, In the Beginning Pt3, and High in the Mountains' This musical voyage is littered with elements of aural beauty that are created by lush arrangements and diverse influences. We believe that Mellodrama promises pop/rock alternatives that do not disappoint, and we believe every song is magical and redeemable. Fans of Genesis, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, R.E.M., and roots rock will find Thedrakeeffect very appealing.
